This Buddha panel was recently carved from an antique piece of wood.  The carving is simple and dignified.  There is a natural border around the piece which frames the Buddha.  The Buddha is in abhaya mudra, also known as the gesture of protection and fearlessness.  The abhaya mudra represents the Buddha's protection from all of the fears of cyclic existence.  This panel is perfect for leaning against or hanging on a wall.

Though the panel was recently carved it has the appearance of being a true antique.  The combination of muted colors the artist used to paint the piece and the antique wood used for the panel, gives the carving an authentic, antique effect!

This panel is entirely hand carved and painted in rural villages in Cambodia.  Every piece is truly unique!

About the Wood:  The wood used for this panel is antique wood.  The artisans purchase second hand wood beds from locals in or near the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh.
