Gesture Shakyamuni Buddha Statue
This beautiful hand
painted copper Shakyamuni Buddha statue is adorned with coral and turquoise
stones. He is seated in
meditation gesture or
dhyana mudra and is seated on a single lotus
throne. In his hands he is holding the treasure vase or kalasha, one of
the eight auspicious symbols which possesses the quality of spontaneous
manifestation, because however much treasure is removed from the vase it remains
perpetually full. The highly ornate golden vase he is holding has three
petals around its upper rim as a symbol of the Three Jewels of the Buddha,
dharma and sangha. An elegant an colorful piece!
The
face of the Buddha is painted with 18k gold. The gold is crushed into a powder
and then made into a paste. The gold paste is mixed with an organic paint
mixture then used to paint the most important part of any Buddha statue; the
face.
