This beautiful
Shakyamuni Buddha statue also known as the
Buddha of the Present is seated in Dhyana Asana or Meditative Pose, also called Padmasana. In this position,
the legs are crossed, closely locked with the soles of both feet visible.
Lord Buddha is wearing
a monastic robe incised with floral motifs and He is seated on a double lotus
base also known as Viswapadmasana. His left hand is in the
earth touching gesture or
bhumisparsha mudra, while his right is in
meditation gesture or
dhyana mudra.
He has a beautiful
turquoise urna between his eyebrows, the 31st physical characteristic of the
Buddha. The urna symbolizes and radiates wisdom.The base of the
piece is sealed with a double vajra symbolizing the balance of the four elements
and harmony of the four directions.
